Woke network blasted after issuing ‘grovelling apology’ for misgendering Dylan Mulvaney - ‘Get a grip!’

CNN has been told to “get a grip” after they issued a grovelling apology on their network for misgendering trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

A young correspondent on the channel incorrectly referred to the 26-year-old using the pronouns he/him, a mistake that wasn’t corrected promptly on air.

Ryan Young had been discussing the boycott of Bud Light after the beer brand entered into a sponsorship deal with Mulvaney in April.

The network ran an on-air apology in the face of backlash over the incident, saying “CNN aims to honour individuals’ ways of identifying themselves, and we apologise for that error”

The correction was met with criticism by GB News presenter Dan Wootton, who called on the network to “get a grip”.

Speaking on Dan Wootton Tonight, he said: “Even the wokest stateside broadcasters are struggling with Dylan’s chosen gender.

“In the real world, that bloke has done nothing wrong. He has just stated a biological fact, but on CNN, you would think he has just murdered someone. Cue the grovelling apology.

“Goodness me. Get a grip!”

Speaking on CNN, Young provided background information on Mulvaney but misgendered her in the process.

He said: “He, of course, is the transgender person they were going to sponsor and go along with, with Bud Light.”

The network has come under fire following the misgendering incident, with viewers taking to social media to question the mishap.

One person wrote: “What horrible coverage and the pundit couldn’t even correct the misgendering of Dylan. This makes me sad.”

Bud Light became the target of backlash after sending Mulvaney a personalised can to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her “Days of Girlhood” TikTok series.

She has criticised the company in the past for not supporting her amid a backlash to an advertisement from the company featuring the influencer.

Dylan Mulvaney rose to prominence for detailing her gender transition in daily videos on TikTok since early 2022.

The influencer spoke to US President Joe Biden in October 2022 at the White House about transgender rights.
